and i'm going back in.: Wellness Wednesday: 3 easy... →
goingbackin: I don’t really worry about exact proportions or follow strict instructions. Most of my best meals are a result of improvisation and experimentation. I’m also super busy, so these are pretty quick and painless. Chicken tacos with guacamole Tacos 1. Grill and dice some chicken. 2. Put chicken in a…

You have no idea how excited I am. We have an idea for the venue that could probably work. I’ll fill you all in more during Christmas break when I have more time to think about non-work stuff. Also, make sure Ohmuffins, GWALP, and World-Shaker keep their cell phones nearby with the ringer on.
Tumblr Fashion Director Leaving Company
mashable: In September, we asked you about the controversy surrounding Tumblr’s New York Fashion Week bloggers and sponsorship of Tumblr pages during Fashion Week. You started a great discussion about Tumblr’s decisions, and we’d like to ask a follow-up. Tumblr Fashion Director Rich Tong is leaving the company. Reports from several members of the fashion industry have indicated that Tumblr...
Kristene-Gets-It: I fail to see how this day could... →
kristenegetsit: 1. Had to get a “talking-to” by the asst. principal today because I am apparently not being proactive enough with parent communication (long story, and I don’t think I’m in the wrong) 2. Tons of meetings scheduled for the rest of the week - 1 AIP, 2 IEPs, 1 team meeting with the principal. Yes,… Tomorrow will be much better. I will be sending many good vibes your way.
Wellness Wednesday Tip
Buy 2 reusable water bottles with filters like Bobble. I keep one in the fridge in the morning, and one in my classroom. I switch at lunch. I stay hydrated, I don’t spend lots of money on water bottles, and I make less waste.

iamlittlei: This is one of my favorite healthy recipes. I made it a lot last spring—it’s pretty quick and it’s full of flavor. Filling enough for dinner and packs well for lunch. Buffalo Chicken Spinach Salad (1 serving) Dice up one medium chicken breast. Season with garlic powder, black pepper, and…

soak it in: Does paying teachers more mean... →
levimoonflower: lhuddles: What are y’all’s thoughts on this? Research shows that pay-for-performance in teaching doesn’t work. There aren’t measurable gains in student performance when teachers are paid more. Yet in some districts (I think an urban study in Chicago is one of them), teachers are paid as much as $10k… What frustrates me about pay for performance is that only so many teachers...
Train Wreck - No Pictures, Please: Team Teachers... →
jbizzle329: I contemplated writing a post on how the Tumblr Teacher community has affected me as a teacher/my life (they are one in the same as a first year). In comparison to when I first started this blog, I post much less than what I used to on the subject of education. I find myself posting about fitness;…

specialbunny: Hey all- Yesterday my grandfather passed away from pancreatic cancer. He’d been fighting for four years, and he lost. He was a wonderful mn who had many talents, and though I m devastated he’s gone, I got to see him one last time before he passed and I know he’s not suffering anymore. I had to… I am so so sorry for your loss. I will be thinking of you this week. Please...
Classroom Treasures: The teaching community on... →
donteatthepaste: The teaching community on tumblr puts into action everyday what it means to give of yourself. There is a wide range of age, experience and it all ends up representing wonderful points of views and ideas. The following quote is taken from a Tim Keller book, “A Reason for God,” different subject…
allisonunsupervised: The Tumblr teachers are having a little essay contest, because, well, teachers. :) I wrote this: I am, as always, a singleton: a high school department of one. This year, as I travel from building to building to building, I am, more often that not, a locked door, an empty chair, a missed message. The interaction I’ve most often had with in-person colleagues is a tossed...
Texas [first year] Teacher: As a December... →
texasfirstyearteacher: As a December university graduate, with an Education degree, I am scared. Scared about my future job (or lack thereof), scared about my abilities as a first-year teacher, scared about my life, in which it seems I have very little control. I live in a city in which many school districts… So glad to have you on board! Don’t ever hesitate to ask this...
heelsarefordancing: I often do not post about teaching. Or what it means to me, or the struggles/successes that I face. I joined tumblr and was so very excited to find so many resources and other teachers. I have used websites and various online tools that have been posted. I loved reading about how to use various technologies in the classroom, listened as some struggled to find jobs, and how...
The Bibliophile: Team Teachers' Contest →
bibliophile4life: I am new to the Tumblr Teacher community. I have only been a part of it for a month or two, but in that time, I have thoroughly enjoyed what part of it I have taken part in and seen in it. I have seen teachers that struggle with many of the same issues that I have through my internship as well as… Awesome!
The Invisible Library: Tumblr Teachers →
annaslibrary: This is my first year as a librarian and though I wear many hats (librarian, technology teacher, technology coordinator), I’m actually much happier than I was as an English teacher. However, I am a solo librarian. My entire department is made up of…me. While I appreciate the autonomy, it’s so much… :-)

Hoosier Teacher: What Team Teachers Means to Me →
hoosiered: I am a 50 year old sophomore in college, and just recently finished up my semester-long field work experience with a high school special needs class in a low socio-economic area. (My wish list reflects that, I think.) I have taught in the past, but now I’m returning to school for my special… We’re so glad to have you!
Teach and Tutor: Tumblr Team Teacher Contest →
teachandtutor: I learned about Tumblr from my son who started a “Draw a Bike from Memory…” Tumblr. He had hundreds of contributions from artists everywhere. I was fascinated! As a working teacher, most of my time was in teaching, planning, grading, meetings, working with students etc. I kept up with…
teachussomethingplease: I’m currently a senior in college, getting ready to student teach in just a month’s time. Since day one of my time as an education major, I’ve felt like most of my education classes were not going to be useful in helping me understand the realities of being a teacher. Learning about educational theory is one thing, but I needed to know how to apply those ideas in a...
kimchi with a side of lunch: Sleep Cycle iPhone... →
ohheythereworld: This is the first morning I have used the sleep cycle iPhone app, and I don’t know if I’ll ever sleep again without it. The app monitors your sleep and wakes you up when you are in the lightest of your sleep cycles. I know right? What if you want/have to get up at 4:30 am and it’s not your… I might just try this… but on a weekend.
invisibletyrannosaurus asked: I finish up my student teaching next week and will be certified shortly after (YAY ME)! I am looking for some things, $50 total or less, to purchase for each of my clinical teachers that I spent months with in the classroom. One of them teaches second grade, while the other teaches fourth grade. What are some things they might enjoy and find useful in the classroom? I will also be purchasing them...

Cathedral Building: [Winter Holiday] Gifts →
shapefutures: I have a feeling when I realize I can’t help everybody I’m going to be sad, but here goes. I very rarely want much of anything for things like Christmases and birthdays anymore. Parents and Harry Potter
bettyinthebush: I have a student whose mother is “morally against” Harry Potter books (as well as The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod and the House of Night series), so I’m not allowed to a) teach them in class or b) let her choose to read them in class on her own, which she has done in the past. She is 15, a sophomore, and her mom just sent all of her RIF (Reading is Fun-damental) and library books...

Hey Miss At...: Hey Class, →
heymissat: It’s Thanksgiving, and I just stuffed my face with far too much food (please notice the proper use of “too”). I’m really happy to be in Arizona with my family for this holiday, but I can’t help but wonder how your day was. I hope you all enjoyed spending time with the people you love and weren’t… People don’t get how much we really truly care about our students.
Hey Miss At...: The Turkey's Revenge: Part 2 →
heymissat: I PROMISE this is worth the read. The kids asked if they could write stories about Thanksgiving again this year. I was more than down. If you recall the first Turkey’s Revenge, this is a sequel written by a different student. I may have laughed so much I cried…three times. I couldn’t possibly… Best thing ever.
