girlwithalessonplan:
Never promote a Taylor Mali video. Ever.
Don’t promote your own blogs.
Pay attention to the cycles things run in. Think before you hit that star: “Have I seen this before?” (Please refer to rule #1.)
Look for variety: learning, educational roles, news, advice seeking, etc.
Please keep it clean. Some of us like (and can) tumblr from work.
Did I mention the Taylor Mali...

Tumblr Teacher Check-In
paintbrushdrive:
Something that’s going well is I’ve been getting lots of sub jobs recently, several teachers are requesting for me which boosts my confidence. AND I’m going to Europe for 4 weeks in the middle of April
I’m stressed about finding a job for next year, and whether I’ll be able to convey my passion and knowledge for teaching art in interviews. I want to be myself, but I worry if...

Teaching Takes Courage.
urbanlearning:
I saw this great image today from www.workisnotajob.com. They put together some great stuff. Today’s image was just perfect for teaching… “Take Courage” against a chalkboard.
Why does teaching take so much courage?
I’ll share my thoughts and hope to hear yours.
1. Teaching takes courage because kids can break your heart. I cannot tell you how many times I cried over my kids. I...

I know where I’ll be watching movies from now on.
AMC Theaters, however, is making an exception for the documentary Bully, which the Weinstein Company announced yesterday would be released this Friday unrated after the MPAA refused to lower its R rating for the film. unoconleche asked: HI PPT! I would love to join in on the next round of Team Teachers, when will sign ups take place? P.S. I love the teacher community on tumblr!
a-loving-dictatorship-deactivat asked: Just wanted to say how much your teacher list helped me! I've had a tumblr for ages but just made a new one to focus on my student teaching and future teaching endeavors. The teacher list has made that even more possible by finding awesome people to learn new ideas from :) Thanks for your work!

Yesterday, I hesitated before telling my mom about Shaima Alawadi. I hesitated because I know it upsets her to hear me tell her so many sad things, but of course, this is important, so I shared. Hmm. Not really a Prince fan. I tried because one of my friends loves his songs. I could never find one I liked. Plus I saw on E! True Hollywood how he treats different women, and I find it very creepy/controlling.

One more thing to add on the finances topic.
We can choose to get bigger checks during the school year and then nothing for the summer. Or smaller checks throughout the year and then one big check when summer begins. The summer check is supposed to be 3 pay checks worth (for about 2 months of no school). However, since I did the extended school year, it will only be 2 pay checks worth — but nobody told us this until last month....
