The teaching community on tumblr puts into action everyday what it means to give of yourself. There is a wide range of age, experience and it all ends up representing wonderful points of views and ideas. The following quote is taken from a Tim Keller book, “A Reason for God,” different subject matter but I feel very appropriate when describing this community. “People who blithely go through life too busy or indifferent to ask hard questions about why they believe as they do will find themselves defenseless against either the experience of tragedy or the probing questions of a smart skeptic.” As teachers we need to understand what our motivation is and at times remember our passion for teaching. The tumblr teaching community challenges us to focus on why we follow certain theories, and practices. We have a safe place to question ourselves without judgement and we are offered enormous amounts of encouragement to grow into the best teachers that we can become.
I am amazed at all of the technology that is so readily available. Tumblr teaching community inspires me to explore new websites and activities that will enhance my student’s experiences. With every new lesson plan and activity I create I have to remember my audience and make their classroom time meaningful. This is a technology driven world we live in and I need to keep myself current. Tumblr teachers help me to accomplish that and at the same time I am supported with positive feedback for just being me.
Today in things that warm my heart.
