Dear Tumblr Teachers,

sarah1223:

What is the most efficient way to organize a portfolio for interviews?

I have an interview next week and my primary portfolio is online. I am creating the physical portfolio this week and I would like some advice as to how to structure it.

Thank you :)

Sarah

I actually carry two.  One has all the stuff that they probably won’t look at, but I want to have just in case: transcripts, letters of rec, copies of my teaching certificate and the like.  This one usually just stays in my bag.

The second one is organized by categories like assessments/data, lesson planning, classroom management, parent communications, technology, differentiated instruction/RtI, and then school community.   It makes it easy for me to flip to artifacts that are relevant to questions I’ll likely be asked.

I’ve never been asked to show my portfolio, so having it organized to be tied to interview questions gives me the opportunity to bring it out and refer to things (which also makes it easier for me to give a clear-headed answer).

Good luck!
